17 Major Mosquito - 4 In A Row! Major Mosquitos Champions in Ajax
Submitted By Major Mosquito on Monday, August 07, 2017
The London Tecumsehs Major Mosquito Team traveled to Ajax Ontario this past weekend to compete in the 2nd annual Ajax Mega-Tournament.  The team battled some tough competition as well as the weather to capture the title!  With Friday being cancelled due to rain, this set up a long 3 game Saturday for the team.

When the squad walked up to the diamonds on Saturday morning they noticed the short fence on the field.  This excited the hitters but was a worry for some of the pitchers.  Over the course of the 3 games - all wins - the pitchers did a fantastic job giving up only 1 run.  (Scores were LT 15 - Ajax Minor 0 / LT 11 - Ajax Major 1 / LT 7 - Northumberland 0)  The hitters obviously did a great job also - beginning with Aidan Doyle starting the day off with a 1st pitch Home Run.  Carter and Bryson also hit long balls on this day - a trend that would continue to the next day.  With the 3 wins the Tecumsehs secured the 1st seed and a Semi Final rematch with the Ajax Major Team on Sunday morning.

The Semi Finals were dominated again by power hitting - efficient pitching - and defense that leaves other teams speechless.  Homeruns were hit by Kayden and Cooper - and Nathan pitched a 68 pitch complete 7 inning game to take home the MVP honours.  This win was a total team effort from top to bottom - final score LT 12 - Ajax 2.
The finals were set against Milton.  This was a closer game than the score would suggest - and mother nature wanted us to stick around a while longer - so a lightning delay was added into the mix as well.  Pitching was strong - Cooper, Connor and Kayden combined for a solid showing - while both Cooper and Carter hit lasers over the fence. When the dust settled the the final score was LT 17 - Milton 6 - and the Major Mosquito squad had won their 4th straight OBA Tournament.  Carter earned MVP honours with his 2 home run performance (1 a Grand Slam).  It was a great weekend for the boys - and we want to Thank the parents for their time and patience over the grueling weekend.  The weather was all over the map but the boys showed no sign of slowing down.

This win brought the teams OBA Tournament record to a perfect 20 - 0.  This is a huge accomplishment for the boys and a testament to their hard work and determination.  This also brought the teams win streak up to 38 games - again another sign of a team that is understanding the meaning of TEAM. WORK.  These boys are getting better every day with more goals in sight.

Thanks to Ajax for hosting a great Tournament at the Beautiful Pan-Am fields - to the Parents for their time and dedication - to the Coaching Staff for their time and effort - and to the players for buying in - and selling out.

Coach Ryan
