17 Major Mosquito - LT Major Mosquitos are LDBA Champions!
Submitted By Major Mosquito on Sunday, August 27, 2017
The London Tecumsehs Major Mosquito squad participated in the LDBA Championships this past weekend.  Going in as the Regular Season Pennant winners turned out to be a huge advantage as things went down to the wire in the Final game.

The weekend was full of hard fought games - but no one expected what took place in the finals.  After winning the first 3 games of the Tournament the Major Mosquitos had to face the hard hitting Sarnia team.  A great 3 player pitching performance and timely hitting helped move the Tecumsehs into the Finals against West London.

The Finals did not start off as planned - with West London putting up 4 runs in the top of the 1st inning.  By the time the 3rd inning rolled around the Tecumsehs found themselves down 8 - 0 and trying to figure out what had just happened.  The team then regrouped and started to chip away at the lead a run or 2 at a time.  When the bottom of the 7th inning rolled around London West had a 9 - 5 lead and was looking for the win against a team who had not lost in the previous 46 games.

The Tecumsehs showed great patience and plate discipline walking and hitting their way to 3 runs to pull the score to 9 - 8.  With the bases loaded and 2 outs Owen came to bat.  After a few hard swings and one outside pitch the count was 1 - 2 and the ballpark fell silent with anticipation.  The next pitch was hit in the air - the players on 2nd and 3rd took off as the ball found the grass in right field.  Kayden scored while Alex rounded 3rd base as the fielder picked up the ball and fired home - he slid at the plate - and beat the throw!  The comeback was complete and the LT Major Mosquitos had captured the LDBA Mosquito Championship.  What a story book ending to a magical 2017 season.

The team heads to Burlington next weekend to compete in the OBA AA Championships and is looking to add another chapter to this incredible season!
