2018 Minor PeeWee - Back to Back OBA 'AA' Champions
Submitted By Ryan Bettridge on Monday, September 3, 2018
The London Tecumsehs Minor Peewee team headed to Halton Hills over the long weekend to compete in the OBA 'AA' Championships.  This team was looking to repeat as 'AA' Champions against some strong competition from across the province.

The 12 team field included defending runner ups Niagara Falcons as well as the defending 'A' Champions Chatham Diamonds.

The '06 Tecumsehs started out strong by winning their first 2 games and setting up a Game #3 match up against Chatham.

Both teams had fire ballers on the mound and the hitters on both sides were in tough.  The Tecumsehs chipped away with good at bats for 4 innings and forced the Diamonds to go to the bullpen.  The team took advantage over the next 3 innings to score 5 run and win the game 5-0.  This win would lead to the 3rd game of the day against the Innisfil Cardinals in which the winner would be the last undefeated team heading into Sunday.

The Tecumsehs came out strong scoring runs in bunches and would eventually be victorious with a 14-6 win.  After an exhausting Saturday the team was in great shape heading into Sunday as the only undefeated team left.

Sunday mornings Semi-Final started with a rematch of the 2017 finals - London Tecumsehs vs. Niagara Falcons.  The Tecumsehs came out strong with great pitching, defense and scoring early and often.  When the dust settled the Tecumsehs came away with a 9-2 win setting up a Finals match up against a familiar opponent - Chatham Diamonds.

The Final game was a back and forth contest for the first 5 innings with the Tecumsehs leading 6-3.  In the top of the 6th inning the Diamonds loaded the bases with 2 outs and scored a run on a hit batter.  The Tecumsehs made a pitching change which lead to a game changing ground ball and got out of the inning.  They carried this momentum through to their next at bat and went on to score 5 runs in the bottom of the 6th inning.  A quick top of the 7th lead to the London Tecumsehs Minor Peewee team winning their second consecutive OBA 'AA' Championship!

An amazing team effort was put forth by these boys who were determined to earn this title.  It was a great end to a memorable 2018 season.  Thank you to everyone involved who made this season possible!
